Hospital Week is an annual celebration spearheaded by the Department of Health, in line with the Presidential Proclamation No. 181 declaring August 6-12 of every year to be the National Hospital Week. Aside from promoting awareness on national health programs, the main objective of this celebration is to uphold the social roles of government hospitals in partnership with other community sectors in maintaining a healthy citizenry.
Last August 7-11, 2017, Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center held a week-long event in celebration of the National Hospital Week. ASTMMC Top Management and our health program coordinators have organized the said event, conducting various activities held within the hospital grounds. This is to show support for the Department of Health’s goals of effective health promotion all over the CARAGA region and in the entire country.
It’s a known fact that the achievements of an organization are the results of the combined efforts of its members. Thus the enthusiasm of our Healthy Lifestyle Committee as they ensured health promotion, camarederie, and teamwork in all of the events throughout the second week of August 2017. The Hospital Week's highlighted events included the much-anticipated HATAW Dance contest, the various, categorized ball games, board games, and the very fun “Laro ng Lahi” contests.
The culmination night (Friday) was also a success. The most awaited Mr. & Ms. ASTMMC 2017 Pageant was a hit, and the members of the four teams -- TEAM ACHIEVE (Green), TEAM BASKOG-GAHI (Yellow), TEAM KONEK (Red), and TEAM KACHING (Blue) -- have all shown their utmost support and admiration for their respective candidates. A variety of intermission numbers also entertained the enthusiastic crowd throughout the evening's program. A few special dance numbers were presented by our Lip Synch Battle contestants and our own ASTMMC WikiLeaks dancers. Before the fun-filled night ended with the Final Awarding Ceremonies, the contest winners were announced and the pageant audience went crazy as the judges crowned the new reigning king and queen.

"Kadayawan ni Juana: I-apil sa Agenda!"
As mandated by the Gender and Development Program of the Department of Health, several government hospitals all over the nation have facilitated a special event that celebrated the National Women's Month of 2016. Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center (ASTMMC) has celebrated the Women's Month in style -- in gowns and tuxedos fashion, at that -- last March 30, 2016 at Villa Maria Luisa Hotel, Tandag City.
With the empowering theme "Kadayawan ni Juana: I-apil sa Agenda!", the one-night celebration paved the way for better recognition of the considerable efforts of our community's leaders in promoting Women and Children Protection (WCP), to better prevent and resolve societal issues related to Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).
Masters of the Ceremonies, Jimbo S. Ramirez, RN and Glaiza M. Elpedang, RN, jumpstarted the glittery and colorful evening with an enthusiastic greeting to the guests and mostly female attendees that have shown up at the venue in stunning gowns, dresses, and elegant three-piece suits.
The Prayer/Doxology was led by Jeanette Vasquez, RN, before the Welcome Address was given by Ms. Alma T. Trinidad, RN. The Opening Salvo followed with the special introduction of the event's honorable Guest Speaker: Ms. Myla Faye Cariño, CESO IV (Regional Director of National Economic Development Authority).
Next on the evening's programme was the Awarding of Empowered Women Leaders, wherein members of the Awards Committee have prepared beforehand tokens and certificates of recognition for the special guests that evening. Rustically glossy plaques of appreciation made of real hardwood were presented to a handpicked list of awardees. This ceremony was held in grateful acknowledgement of their outstanding contributions to ASTMMC and exceptional enthusiasm in upholding the goals and ideals of Women and Children Protection and being exemplary role models for Filipino women.
The attendees were then entertained by an intermission number by the ASTMMC's WikiLeaks dance group, who presented a variety of dance styles to the attentive crowd.
The Awarding of tokens and certificates of participation resumed as ASTMMC's Top Management graced the stage to hand the special plaques to the respective awardees.
Then came the time to enjoy the Ceremonial Dinner, which was announced after the Special Toast led by Charles Joseph Y. Verano, RN. The Closing Remarks given by the Gender and Development Focal Person (GAD FP), Ms. Alma T. Trinidad, RN, were then filled with names of the hardworking people who helped make the event a success. As the evening continued, the party went on a roll as the special guests and attendees heated up the dance floor, until it was finally time to cut the fun and go home with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude in their hearts and minds.
